Summer newsletter 2025

Our latest newsletter is out read it in full here.

It has been a very depressing time.  Numbers are right down, the condition of most of the hedgehogs admitted has been awful and so many have died or been put to sleep. We assume it is the very dry conditions this spring and summer, they must be finding it hard to feed themselves and people are reluctant to put out supplementary food for them for fear of attracting rats.

We have now had some one month old hoglets in, they arrived very late at the end of June, presumably finding it hard to forage once mum's milk had dried up.

So branchage casualty numbers are down, but only because hedgehog numbers are also down, so not good news.

Let's hope for a nice mild damp autumn with lots of bugs about!
