It has been a very depressing summer. Numbers are right down.
Please take care if you are planning a bonfire, the only safe way for hedgehogs is to build your pile on the day you are going to set fire to it. This applies whether it is for Bonfire Night or for burning your garden rubbish, a pile of clippings and branches looks like a lovely place to build a nest if you are a hedgehog.
Please continue to provide food and water for any hedgehogs which visit your garden, don't stop during the winter, they are not hibernating for long in the mild winters we have been having in recent years. If you put some dry cat food under cover, they can come and eat whenever they are up and about looking for food.
