End of September update

I have done the maths for the last 3 months and for the year from last October. It is very depressing we haven't admitted so few hedgehogs since 2003. Our release rate is rock bottom too. In the year October 2025 to September 2026 we admitted 350 hogs, 186 died or were put to sleep and only 162 were released.

The figures for the last 3 months are:

July Admissions 76 Deaths 42 Releases 21

August Admissions 44 Deaths 36 Releases 23

September Admissions 36 Deaths 21 Releases 18

Some were very near death on arrival. Some were put to sleep because of severe injuries and lots of very small youngsters came here to die suffering from the extreme heat and drought. This is the third very dry summer and hedgehogs are finding it very hard to find food and water unless people provide it.
